Ted Myers is the senior pastor of our church.
Rev. Thomas E. (Ted) Myers was born in Walla Walla, WA. He received his BA in applied psychology and anthropology from Eastern Washington University. Ted received his Master’s of Divinity degree from the Pacific School of Religion in Berkeley, Ted has also been trained in chemical dependency counseling and hospice chaplaincy.
Ted first served as a missionary in Klamath Falls and later in Alaska through the Board of Global ministries. He as served the United Methodist Church as an ordained elder for 26 years.
Ted’s wife Sue is employed as a sonographer at Heart Sounds. Together they enjoy hiking, camping, gardening and reading. Ted also enjoys playing the piano and riding his Honda. They have two sons, Christopher, who lives in Eugene, and Sung, who is majoring in psychology at Southern Oregon University.
Ted has pastured several churches including North Star UMC in Nikiski, Alaska, Klamath Falls UMC and most recently Ashland UMC.
Rev. Myers considers himself a teacher/preacher, an active listener, a team player, and an encourager for active lay ministries. He motivates others to share creative ideas, to study and work together, and to be the loving community that Jesus calls us to be. He believes that community outreach and teamwork with discernment and spiritual direction, is the life blood of the church.
Shawnie Clester, church secretary
Shawn is our church secretary.
She and Lonnie have been married since 1975 and have 2 sons, Phillip and Nate.
During their school years she was very active in their schooling and in Boy Scouts. She helped both of them achieve the rank of Eagle. She also helped train leaders for the scouting program.
Shawn likes to spend her spare time garage selling with her mom, reading and sewing.
She has been an member of Rockwood for over 20 years and been the secretary since January 2006.
Meet out New Choir Director
Jesse Cromer, our new choir director, is excited get started on a great season of music.
Jesse grew up in the Stayton United Methodist Church and, after being away from home for several years, worked last year at Silverton United Methodist Church.
He graduated from the Manhattan School of Music in 2009 with a Bachelor’s degree in vocal performance. He then stayed on the east coast, performing as a singer and conductor, as well as teaching piano and voice lessons to all ages. He moved back to the Northwest last year.
Jesse has performed in a variety of venues including Carnegie Hall, Avery Fischer, two Off-Broadway productions, and toured with hip-hop super group Deltron 3030.
For the past 4 years summers, Jesse has been the choir director at MADD (music, art, drama, dance) camp at Camp Magruder in Rockaway Beach, Ore.
Jesse is excited to apply his talent, enthusiasm, and knowledge to Rockwood and Cherry Park’s choir.
